Description
In a half-bridge, the high-side switch node swings between the rails with every switching event. Measuring it with a ground-referenced setup risks distorted results, and conventional differential probes lose common-mode rejection as frequency rises.
The MOIP-MHO68-500 bundle solves this with optical isolation. The SigOFIT MOIP500P sends the signal over fibre from a laser-powered probe head, holding 114 dB CMRR at 500 MHz across an 85 kVpk common-mode range. The Micsig MHO68-500 displays it on 8 channels at 12-bit resolution, so you can view the isolated node alongside gate, current and control signals. Both instruments are rated for 500 MHz.
Built for
- SiC and GaN half/full bridges – high-side gate and switch-node voltage
- Inverters, UPS and switching power supplies – development and validation measurements
- Motor drives and power converters – phase voltages and control signals together
- Power device evaluation – switching behaviour at low probe loading (< 3 pF)
- Current shunt and small-signal measurements – floating shunts, plus direct SMA input
- High-voltage safety testing, EMI and ESD troubleshooting – floating measurements
The probe: SigOFIT MOIP500P (Gen 3)
Because the probe head is powered by laser and connected only by fibre, there is no galvanic link to the oscilloscope. Gen 3 measures without calibration or auto-zero, so setup time stays short.
- 500 MHz bandwidth, rise time ≤ 800 ps
- CMRR 180 dB at DC and 114 dB at 500 MHz
- 85 kVpk common-mode voltage range
- ±0.01 V to ±20 kV differential range with exchangeable tips
- Noise < 0.3 mVrms; DC gain accuracy 1 %; zero drift < 0.1 %
- Input capacitance < 3 pF
- Direct SMA small-signal measurement with integrated 2:1 attenuation
- No auto-zero, no temperature drift, uninterrupted laser-powered operation
- MCX and MMCX coaxial tip connections; 2 m fibre (custom lengths available)
- Ships with OP50 (±25 V) and OP5000 (±2500 V) attenuation tips
The oscilloscope: Micsig MHO68-500
The MHO68-500 brings 8 channels and 12-bit resolution to a single compact unit. That covers a full power stage in one capture: the isolated switch node from the probe plus gate drive, currents and control signals on the other channels.
- 500 MHz bandwidth, rise time ≤ 0.7 ns
- 8 analogue channels, 12-bit vertical resolution
- 6 GSa/s real-time sampling, 1800 Mpts memory
- Noise < 80 µVrms
- 16-inch multi-touch display (1920 × 1200), 3.52 cm thin housing
- BNC and Mic-OPI™ probe interfaces
- Serial decoding: RS-232/422/485/UART, CAN, CAN FD, LIN, SPI, I²C; ARINC-429 and MIL-STD-1553B optional
- Wi-Fi, LAN, USB 3.0/2.0, USB Type-C, HDMI; remote control via PC software and iOS/Android app
Why buy them together
- Balanced 500 MHz system. Probe and oscilloscope share the same bandwidth rating, so neither limits the other.
- Clean high-side signals. 114 dB CMRR at 500 MHz keeps common-mode noise from fast switching out of the waveform.
- From millivolts to kilovolts. SMA input and low-range tips for small signals, OP5000 for ±2500 V, optional tips up to ±20 kV.
- Less setup. Calibration-free probe, included tips and connector kit.
- Room for the rest of the circuit. Seven more channels for Micsig differential probes, Rogowski coils or current probes.
